Does the King Over King Bunk Bed require a special type of mattress?
No. The wooden slats support most innerspring king size mattresses. For a memory foam mattress, you will need a solid surface to keep it from sinking. If you plan to use a memory foam mattress, you can add a 1/8” thick masonite board or extra slats to your order. These options are available in the Accessories tab above.Will I need a box spring?
Box springs are not necessary on the King Over King Bunk Bed. In fact, we recommend not using one to avoid wasting valuable headspace.How is the ladder attached to the bed frame?
The standard ladder is detachable and can be placed anywhere around the bunk bed. It securely clips to the aluminum frame and will not move when it’s in use.How far does the ladder extend?
If your bunk bed is built for a 9’ ceiling, the ladder extends 20” from the end of the bed. We also make a version that only extends 13” from the bed at no cost. We customer ordered this bunk with a matching trundle. Added the book shelves for both top and bottom. Added the removable ladder and the side rail for safety on top. This bed is definitely sturdy. However, the trundle slats were not cut correctly. We had different sizes and had to have a carpenter come cut them for us. We’ve had to move this twice. It’s not easy at all. It takes 4 people to put up and take down. Unfortunately it also scratches very easily. I had to purchase a filler for the paint to cover our scratches. I also had to buy more screws from FL&B when we moved it. The screws were not reusable. We’ve had adults on top and bottom and all felt very comfortable!! Sturdy isn’t an issue. However, I’d suggest 2 side rails so you can move bed wherever unless it won’t ever move from its space. We love the bookshelves, but they are bending away from bed. The wall supported them when the bed was against it. However, I feel like they need to have a bracket of some sort to keep them in place. I’d definitely purchase a bunk again but I’d be a little specific on extra support.

I like the bunk beds and they are more sturdy than the industry norm. Unfortunately, one of the predrilled holes doesn’t quite line up and therefore I wasn’t able to get the bolt screwed all the way in. The bed does rock a little from side to side, possibly as a result of this. But overall stable and I’m pleased. I was able to assemble the entire bunk bed with no assistance, so assembly wasn’t too challenging.

The bunk beds look awesome but, they are rickety. When I called for a fix, they were ready for this and offered corner bracing which looks tacky when installed. I opted to find corner bracing on amazon. I painted them and put them in place with rivnuts. They look much nicer. The tacs they provide to fasten the cloth underneath the top bunk cannot be used. They will bend before you can push them into the wood. I opted for a nail tack that I found on amazon and they worked much better. Finally, the directions to assemble the bed are poor. They need to include pictures and more steps. Overall, I'm still happy with the purchase but, if you don't install two braces on each corner, the bed wiggles like crazy. Be ready for these issues, as you will run into them.

Very satisfied with these bunk beds. I order queen over queen in grey to be used in our vacation condo. These are engineered to hold actual adults and as far as I could tell there is nothing else comparable on the market. These are not cheap in cost but are well built and I fully expect them to stand up to the test of time. Note that the slats are wood 2x4 's which was not clear at order. I was quite confused when the first few boxes I opened all contained wood. Maybe I just missed this online but was definitely unclear to me at least so take note. Took several hours to unpackage/build but was fairly straight forward. My only complaint was there was substantial sway on the top bunk post assembly. This was a major concern for me as the beds are in a small cutout room to the side of our upstairs loft so if someone were to fall getting out of the top bunk they could possibly clear the railing and end up an entire floor below (ouch). I reached out to Sales to inquire on getting some of the cross beams used on the loft style beds for to rectify this. I was given some instruction on squaring with a ratchet strap and offered corner braces. I went as far as to completely disassemble and rebuild ratcheting down in and attempt to square it better to no avail. However once the corner braces were delivered and installed this solved the sway issue entirely for me. I do not recall corner braces being presented as an option online so you may need to specifically request them at time or order. In my opinion the corner braces are a must so I would suggest the manufacturer up the price and just include them. Would rate this 5 stars if the braces had been included from the get go. All in all I would recommend this product (just make sure you get the corners) and won't hesitate to order again if we should find a need for another bunkbed in the future.

Good looking sturdy bunk beds with 2,000 lb max weight limit on each bunk. Would have given five stars, but tacks and cloth provided to hide bed slats on upper bunk were cheap for a $4,000 bed. Tacks easily bent and broke when pressing them into the wooden slats.
