Does the Full Over Full Bunk Bed require a special type of mattress?
No. The wooden slats support most innerspring full size mattresses (also known as double size mattresses). For a memory foam mattress, you will need a solid surface to keep it from sinking. If you plan to use a memory foam mattress, you can add a 1/8” thick masonite board or extra slats to your order. These options are available in the Accessories tab above.Will I need a box spring?
Box springs are not necessary on the Full Over Full Bunk Bed. In fact, we recommend not using one to avoid wasting valuable headspace.How is the ladder attached to the bed frame?
The standard ladder is detachable and can be placed anywhere around the bunk bed. It securely clips to the aluminum frame and will not move when it’s in use.How far does the ladder extend?
If your Full Over Full Bunk Bed is built for a 9’ ceiling, the ladder extends 20” from the end of the bed. We also make a version that only extends 13” from the bed at no cost. For $35, we can build a ladder that only extends 6” from the bed frame. You can request these custom ladder options in the Notes section during checkout.What are the dimensions of the staircase?

These things ROCK!!! We bought 3 queen-over-queen and 1 full-over-queen for a mountain house. 2 of the queen-over-queens are in the bunk room ,and everyone who has slept on them loves them. I could not be happier with the fit and finish. Putting them together....like anything does take some time. The first go around, we did have to take the first one apart and redo it. Not the instructions fault; more of a communication issue. We looked for a lot of beds and found these and have been very pleased. They are pricey but we NEVER plan on replacing them. We bought the full over full bunk beds with stairs and the fireman pole for our 7 and 10 year old growing boys. Assembly was not as bad as we thought it would be - my husband was able to do half of it on his own and the rest went very quickly. We opted for the stairs/bookcase option in lieu of a ladder. The stairs are huge and sturdy. My only complaint is it is a little slippery. I am looking for some kind of solution to that, including rubber grips and stair carpet. We ordered the option for a 10' ceiling. There is plenty of room on the bottom bunk for my 7 year old so we know he won't bump his head. I like that I can tuck him in and not worry about slamming my head on the upper bunk! We decided not to purchase the plywood upgrade because we had 1"" steel bunkie boards. We quickly realized these boards won't fit the bottom bunk. On the top bunk, we squeezed it in between the posts. Even still, there is a gap between the wood planks and where the mattress is supposed to go. The bottom bunk is currently unsupported, as we still need to purchase some kind of wood at the perfect depth to allow the planks to support the bed. Given the size of the bed and the dimension of the corner posts, the entire thing is a bit wobbly. We made sure everything was square and lined up, and every screw is tight. We will end up securing the bed to the wall at some point to help with the wobble.
