Q: Are Adult Bunk Beds sturdy?

We built our beds with a 4” square aluminum frame tied together with strong X-braces at the bottom bed frame on the bunk. This not only creates the upmost strength against swaying, but it also ensures your support and safety in the bed.
Q: Do they use standard mattress sizes?
A: One common misconception about adult bunk beds is that they require custom made mattresses. Our adult bunks work with any standard mattresses. We do suggest an 8 - 12 inch thickness for your mattress, to optimize your comfort and safety.
Q: Do they need a box spring?
A: No, box springs are not needed on our beds. A box spring will take away from your headspace, so we constructed our beds so that they are not necessary.
Q: Are Adult Bunk Beds safe?
A: Another common concern about Adult Bunk Beds is of course their safety. Whenever you have a bed that’s elevated there are always safety concerns that you’ll want to reassure yourself of. Here at Francis Lofts & Bunks, we’ve made all necessary measures to ensure that our beds meet and conform to the latest consumer product safety standards. For your safety, one side rail comes standard on all of our bunk beds. You can also add on any combination of 2 side rails and 2 ends rails onto the bed as well depending on your preference. Be sure to follow guidelines for the height and spacing between ceiling as well. You’ll want to leave at least two feet of space between the bunk bed and the ceiling to prevent bumps.
Q: Can I change the style?
A: Yes, we offer 5 finishes. The options are: charcoal, black, white, light bronze and gray. When we designed our beds, we wanted to combine form and function to bring an upbeat, urban look with a sleek design that is fashionable enough for adults, yet safe enough for kids. Our 5 finish options are available to bring whatever ambiance you desire into your room.
Q: Can I get extra long sizes?
A: Yes! We know that sometimes you just need a little extra room, so we offer twin XL and full XL mattress sizes.
Q: Is the staircase sturdy?
A: Another common worry is the sturdiness of the add-on staircase. This staircase has been tested to hold at least 500 pounds, so you won’t have to worry about the security of the steps when you’re going up and down.
Q: Can you mix and match the bunk sizes?
A: In addition to our standard same size bunk beds, we also offer Twin XL over Queen as well as Queen over Kind bunk beds. This is a great option if you need a bit more space for one person but not the other. For vacation homes, it also is a great option to mix things up for your guests so that they have the option of a longer or wider bed if they so choose.
Q: What happens if I move and need to move my Adult Bunk Bed with me?
A: According to the 2007 ACS data, once the average person reaches the age of 18, they are likely to move at least another 9.1 times in their remaining lifetime. With this in mind, we know that once you purchase this bed, you’re most likely going to pick up and move a few more times with it. Our beds are designed to move with you. They do not lose any integrity by being disassembled and reassembled, just make sure to keep track of your hardware so that when you’re in your new home you can reassemble it without worry.
Q: How does delivery work?
A: Our beds are typically shipped out within 4 weeks, although you can expedite them if you need faster delivery. They are then delivered via curbside delivery in easy to grip boxes. When your truck arrives, simply cut the band and shrink-wrap and begin to pull off the boxes individually to then carry into your home.
