Does the Twin Over Twin Bunk Bed require a special type of mattress?
No. The wooden slats support most innerspring twin size mattresses. For a memory foam mattress, you will need a solid surface to keep it from sinking. If you plan to use a memory foam mattress, you can add a 1/8” thick masonite board or extra slats to your order. These options are available in the Accessories tab above.Will I need a box spring?
Box springs are not necessary on the Twin Over Twin Bunk Bed. In fact, we recommend not using one to avoid wasting valuable headspace.How is the ladder attached to the bed frame?
The standard ladder is detachable and can be placed anywhere around the bunk bed. It securely clips to the aluminum frame and will not move when it’s in use.How far does the ladder extend?
If your Twin Over Twin Bunk Bed is built for a 9’ ceiling, the ladder extends 20” from the end of the bed. We also make a version that only extends 13” from the bed at no cost. We absolutely love our Full Over Full Bunk Beds. We’d been eyeing them for the better part of three years before we finally made the decision to buy. My partner and I have hugely different sleeping habits so we haven’t shared a bed in over ten years, even though we’ve always shared a room. We’ve always had two twin futons or, more recently two full beds pressed together to make a massive bed while still having our own space. This, obviously, created a space issue. With the bunk beds we can have our own spaces AND have floor space. Both my partner and I are on the larger side so the thick slats for the bed are a life saver. We had plastic slats on our old bed frames and after only a few years they began to warp making it less supportive. We’ve only had our bunks for a few months, but it feels way more supportive and less like one wrong move would break the slats. I have the top bunk and got the stairs. Climbing into my little high hidey hole at the end of the day feels so safe and cozy. My partner loves the bottom bunk because it’s a little like a cave. All in all we’re super pleased with the purchase!
