Does the Queen Over King Bunk Bed require a special type of mattress?
No. The wooden slats support most innerspring queen and king-size mattresses. For a memory foam mattress, you will need a solid surface to keep it from sinking. If you plan to use a memory foam mattress, you can add a 1/8” thick masonite board or extra slats to your order. These options are available in the Accessories tab above.Will I need a box spring?
Box springs are not necessary on the Queen Over King Bunk Bed. In fact, we recommend not using one to avoid wasting valuable headspace.How is the ladder attached to the bed frame?
The standard ladder is detachable and can be placed on either short end of the bed frame. It securely clips to the aluminum frame and will not move when it’s in use.How far does the ladder extend?
If your Queen Over King Bunk Bed is built for a 9’ ceiling, the ladder extends 20” from the end of the bed. We also make a version that only extends 13” from the bed at no cost. I have to say that I wanted to LOVE the beds so much... but there are some details that made my experience below average. 1. The posts were wrongly labeled, and I realized when I had part of the bed already put together. As a result, I scratched the posts a bit while I was taking some screws off in order to reassemble. 2. The railing design is not the best, and it is very difficult to get the horizontal posts straight, which makes it harder to fit it in the supports. 3. I paid extra for the masonite boards and they really do not work very well, for the price of the bed, it should only be a single piece board that I could just sit on the bed, not 4 or 5 different ones! It is very difficult to align the pieces to the bed planks and when I manage to align them, the movement of the mattress make them fall apart. Not great. I did not have time yet, but I am planning to follow up with a phone call, at least to see if the masonite could be replaced. Thanks

On the recommendation of friends we went to Francis Lofts & Bunks to buy two Twin XL Over Queen Bunk Beds. The construction is magnificent, like nothing I've ever seen, clearly designed by engineers. Solid to the core and they look great. The fundamentals of assembly was simple, but the instructions were outdated and could do with improvement in a few places. A packing list would have been helpful (products need a user forum with real life assembly experiences and to connect customers....customer support was prompt, but largely uninformed/unexperienced in assembly). Would 100% buy again, great product, great value.

The Queen Over Queen Adult Bunk Bed in white is just beautiful. We love it. The quality is amazing. The only issues was the $400 white glove delivery and sit up was very bad. The two delivery men worked on figuring out how to put it together for an 1 1/2 hrs, they had the packing and hardware strewn all over, my husband had to coordinate and help put it together. The material of the beds are very nice! The exterior does leave scratch marks that are difficult to remove. The best thing about the beds are the slats. When trying out the beds, we felt very secure and safe, and that they will withstand varying weights. Because they are metal, the beds do wobble. I loved the amount of customizable options when purchasing the beds, from the ceiling height, to add ons. I do think the website should allow for quantities of a bed, instead of having to manually enter multiple of the same beds into the cart.
