Does the Queen Loft Bed require a special type of mattress?
No. The wooden slats support most innerspring queen size mattresses. For a memory foam mattress, you will need a solid surface to keep it from sinking. If you plan to use a memory foam mattress, you can add a 1/8” thick masonite board or extra slats to your order. These options are available in the Accessories tab above.Will I need a box spring?
Box springs are not necessary on the Queen Loft Bed. In fact, we recommend not using on to avoid wasting valuable headspace.Are the x-braces required on the loft bed frame?
Yes. The x-braces are what make the Queen Loft Bed stable and safe for adult use.How is the ladder attached to the bed frame?
The standard ladder is detachable and can be placed anywhere around the loft bed. It securely clips to the aluminum frame and will not move when it’s in use.How far does the ladder extend?
If your loft bed is built for a 9’ ceiling, the ladder extends 20” from the end of the bed. We also make a version that only extends 13” from the bed at no cost. This loft is a solid beast. I travel a lot and move a lot, so have experienced sleep on all forms Ì¢âÂÛÏ fancy hotels, cheap motels, cots on deployment, etc. It seems any bed above ground level moves. Frames twist and squeak. Headboards flop and bang. Legs wobble and crack. Mattress boxes shift and slide. But when I return to my roost, all is calm and quiet. The only arrangement more solid than this loft is a sleeping bag on the bare earth. A good mattress on a Francis loft is rock stable. It doesnÌ¢âÂã¢t move! I bought this loft because I wanted to save space and have room underneath. I was not expecting the stability, but now appreciate it even more. Customer service after the sale has also been superb.
