Does the Queen Loft Bed require a special type of mattress?
No. The wooden slats support most innerspring queen size mattresses. For a memory foam mattress, you will need a solid surface to keep it from sinking. If you plan to use a memory foam mattress, you can add a 1/8” thick masonite board or extra slats to your order. These options are available in the Accessories tab above.Will I need a box spring?
Box springs are not necessary on the Queen Loft Bed. In fact, we recommend not using one to avoid wasting valuable headspace.Are the x-braces required on the loft bed frame?
Yes. The x-braces are what make the Queen Loft Bed stable and safe for adult use.How is the ladder attached to the bed frame?
The standard ladder is detachable and can be placed anywhere around the loft bed. It securely clips to the aluminum frame and will not move when it’s in use.How far does the ladder extend?
If your loft bed is built for a 9’ ceiling, the ladder extends 20” from the end of the bed. We also make a version that only extends 13” from the bed at no cost. We live in a converted shoe factory in DUMBO, Brooklyn. It's an open space studio loft with 15 foot ceilings. There is a little nook by the doorway that was designed to put a bed. Since we had such high ceilings we thought it would be a better use of space to loft the bed and use the space below for an office/entryway. Because we wanted to comfortably walk under the bed we added a foot to the max clearance. It was a bit terrifying the first night, but we've since gotten used to it and have never slept better.
