Does the King Loft Bed require a special type of mattress?
No. The wooden slats support most innerspring king size mattresses. For a memory foam mattress, you will need a solid surface to keep it from sinking. If you plan to use a memory foam mattress, you can add a 1/8” thick masonite board or extra slats to your order. These options are available in the Accessories tab above.Will I need a box spring?
Box springs are not necessary on the King Loft Bed. In fact, we recommend not using one to avoid wasting valuable headspace.Are the x-braces required on the loft bed frame?
Yes. The x-braces are what make the King Loft Bed stable and safe for adult use.How is the ladder attached to the bed frame?
The standard ladder is detachable and can be placed anywhere around the loft bed. It securely clips to the aluminum frame and will not move when it’s in use.How far does the ladder extend?
If your loft bed is built for a 9’ ceiling, the ladder extends 20” from the end of the bed. We also make a version that only extends 13” from the bed at no cost. We bought a queen bed for our teenage daughter so she can take it with her when she goes to college in a few years. It is so sturdy, allowing her and two friends to sleep over at one time. I believe the weight limit is 2,000 lbs! You will not find that anywhere else. It is also great to have the space underneath, as she has made it her study cubby, complete with a desk, bookcase, beanbag chair, and furry rug she lounges on to read. We hung filmy curtains around the sides and it is so cozy! She chose the bronze color; it is unique and looks very nice with her black and white decor. These beds are amazing — very high quality and they are machined and painted very well. My daughter and I put it together in about two hours. All of the parts are clearly labeled, and they have wonderful customer service should you need help. Don’t hesitate — this is a worthy furniture investment that will last for many years!
