Does the King Loft Bed require a special type of mattress?
No. The wooden slats support most innerspring king size mattresses. For a memory foam mattress, you will need a solid surface to keep it from sinking. If you plan to use a memory foam mattress, you can add a 1/8” thick masonite board or extra slats to your order. These options are available in the Accessories tab above.Will I need a box spring?
Box springs are not necessary on the King Loft Bed. In fact, we recommend not using one to avoid wasting valuable headspace.Are the x-braces required on the loft bed frame?
Yes. The x-braces are what make the King Loft Bed stable and safe for adult use.How is the ladder attached to the bed frame?
The standard ladder is detachable and can be placed anywhere around the loft bed. It securely clips to the aluminum frame and will not move when it’s in use.How far does the ladder extend?
If your loft bed is built for a 9’ ceiling, the ladder extends 20” from the end of the bed. We also make a version that only extends 13” from the bed at no cost. This is a very sturdy loft bed. It does not shake at all - including the ladder. I believe the bed was delivered either prior to or right on the expected delivery date which was great. Assembly was fairly straight forward, but we did have some issues with the instructions. Putting the rails on correctly was a bit challenging. If the instructions were a little more detailed, that would make this a 5 star rating. I would definitely order from this company again.

It was pretty easy to put together, I think three people is definitely the minimum, but we had four helping at one point. There were a couple places we ran into challenges, and there are two screws that simply would NOT go into place no matter how we wiggled or adjusted the bed. Overall it's very sturdy and feels safe. The stairs are a little wobbly in comparison, but they feel safe. The fabric under the bed didn't quite fit to both ends, but that might have had some user error involved, not sure. The instructions (especially the ones for the bookshelf) could use a little bit of an update. Watching the people put it together on video was definitely the most helpful and valuable thing, that was much appreciated. Would have been much harder to put together without the the video! Overall, it's made for a great bed and office space. Despite the small roadblocks we ran into putting it together, it went relatively smoothly and the bed feels secure and has helped me save space while looking nice.

I love my loft bed! I live in a studio so it really helped with storage and I love the simple modern style. It is very sturdy and well made. I also ordered the book shelf and stairs. The stairs are already a little scratched up from my dog's nails, but I think it will be simple to repaint, a more robust finish would have been better for the amount of use it gets. The ordering process was a little confusing, I didn't know ordering the bookshelf would eliminate the need for the end rail as there are not many photos online, that would have been good information to have as I had to pay out of pocket to ship it back. Also expect to pay a lot for freight shipping and be prepared to transport the heavy boxed inside yourself, I rented a hand truck and had a strong friend help.
