Does the King Loft Bed require a special type of mattress?
No. The wooden slats support most innerspring king size mattresses. For a memory foam mattress, you will need a solid surface to keep it from sinking. If you plan to use a memory foam mattress, you can add a 1/8” thick masonite board or extra slats to your order. These options are available in the Accessories tab above.Will I need a box spring?
Box springs are not necessary on the King Loft Bed. In fact, we recommend not using one to avoid wasting valuable headspace.Are the x-braces required on the loft bed frame?
Yes. The x-braces are what make the King Loft Bed stable and safe for adult use.How is the ladder attached to the bed frame?
The standard ladder is detachable and can be placed anywhere around the loft bed. It securely clips to the aluminum frame and will not move when it’s in use.How far does the ladder extend?

It took me two years to decide whether this loft was worth the expense, and finally I just went for it. Turns out, this loft is AMAZING! It was super easy to assemble (in spite of the fact that I kept thinking the steps were the bookshelf and then put it together backwards). On the plus side, it's really easy to disassemble and then put together again. It is so well made and sturdy--it doesn't wobble or shake, and we can fit two adults and our daughter up there to read stories at bedtime. The only downside (for us) is that the steps are up against the wall on one side and not all the cubbies are accessible from under the loft, because of the cross bars. Also, the steps aren't really tall enough to accommodate the height of most books, so don't plan to use it as a bookshelf. I'm really pleased with this loft--my only regret is not having done it two years ago!

These are the best bunk/loft beds out there! We purchased two loft beds with desks below for our teen daughters. It transformed their previously messy room into something amazing. The lofts are extremely sturdy, with clean lines. It was one of the few options available that did not come preassembled and the parts could easily be moved to their upstairs bedroom (a previous try from a teen furniture store was disastrous when the bed would not fit up our 1950’s staircase and had to be sent back).
