Does the Full Loft Bed require a special type of mattress?
No. The wooden slats support most innerspring full size mattresses. For a memory foam mattress, you will need a solid surface to keep it from sinking. If you plan to use a memory foam mattress, you can add a 1/8” thick masonite board or extra slats to your order. These options are available in the Accessories tab above.Will I need a box spring?
Box springs are not necessary on the Full Loft Bed. In fact, we recommend not using one to avoid wasting valuable headspace.Are the x-braces required on the loft bed frame?
Yes. The x-braces are what make the Full Loft Bed stable and safe for adult use.How is the ladder attached to the bed frame?
The standard ladder is detachable and can be placed anywhere around the loft bed. It securely clips to the aluminum frame and will not move when it’s in use.How far does the ladder extend?
If your Full Loft Bed is built for a 9’ ceiling, the ladder extends 20” from the end of the bed. We also make a version that only extends 13” from the bed at no cost. For $35, we can build a ladder that only extends 6” from the bed frame. You can request these custom ladder options in the Notes section during checkout.What are the dimensions of the staircase?
We have two staircase options. A 4-step version for beds built for an 8 or 9 foot ceiling, and 5 steps for a 10 food ceiling. The dimensions of the different staircase options are:

What a wonderful experience ordering from Francis Lofts & Bunks. Jeffie was awesome going over what I would need, dimensions and advice on arrangement. I did pay extra to get them shipped quickly as I needed them during the holidays. I bought 2 Cal King Lofts and put my existing beds under them. One was a eastern king and the other a cal king with cal kings on top. They came in 6 or 7 sturdy boxes. My son-in-law put one bed together in a couple of hours. They are so sturdy and strong. Definitely can hold a large adult. No shakiness at all. We got the black color and they look very modern. We put them in regular sized bedrooms at our ski condo in Tahoe. I am a 6'5" man and my wife is 5'8", so we we struggled to find a loft bed that was suitable for us. The loft bed holds us both great and doesn't sway or rock or squeak as we feared. It's very sturdy. Our only complaint is the way the ladder attaches to the bed. We like the flexibility to put it wherever we want on the bed, but it slides around everywhere (quite dangerously sometimes). It would be great to have something that holds the ladder in place laterally even if it's just Velcro or something. For this we took off 1 star but otherwise no complaints at all.
