Does the Queen Over Queen Bunk Bed require a special type of mattress?
No. The wooden slats support most innerspring queen size mattresses. For a memory foam mattress, you will need a solid surface to keep it from sinking. If you plan to use a memory foam mattress, you can add a 1/8” thick masonite board or extra slats to your order. These options are available in the Accessories tab above.Will I need a box spring?
Box springs are not necessary on the Queen Over Queen Bunk Bed. In fact, we recommend not using on to avoid wasting valuable headspace.How is the ladder attached to the bed frame?
The standard ladder is detachable and can be placed anywhere around the bunk bed. It securely clips to the aluminum frame and will not move when it’s in use.How far does the ladder extend?
If your bunk bed is built for a 9’ ceiling, the ladder extends 20” from the end of the bed. We also make a version that only extends 13” from the bed at no cost. For $35, we can build a ladder that only extends 6” from the bed frame. You can request these custom ladder options in the Notes section during checkout.What are the dimensions of the staircase?
We have two staircase options. A 4-step version for beds built for an 8 or 9 foot ceiling, and 5 steps for a 10 food ceiling. The dimensions of the different staircase options are:

If I had any criticism, it would be that I'd love to see the beds have the criss-cross strength members on the ends, like on the loft beds, to prevent a bit of sway that the beds do have. We ordered 6 bunk beds, 4 queens and 2 twins, for nightly rentals. They arrived in perfect condition. They went together with a little effort. It did get easier with each one we put together. Instructions were good. They sent a wrong color on 1 piece and a replacement was quickly sent to us. We ordered 3 beds in one order and 3 several months later. There was a huge improvement with the ladders on the second order. They put a felt liner on the inside of the ladder hooks so it doesn't scratch the bar that holds the ladder up. All the beds on our first order have scratches where the ladder sits on the bar. These are not your typical bunk beds. They are very sturdy and sleep adults very comfortably. We have received many compliments from our guests.

My only complaint is that I didn't know of them sooner! After 13 years in the vacation rental business, I wish I could go back and apologize to all my adult guests who had to climb up and sleep in typical wood, creaky bunk beds on their vacation. This product is solid, sturdy, and their customer service is incredible! We love all their extra accessories too. We ordered the attached tray and lower bunk curtain. The installation videos were so helpful even though we were trying to get it build in a tight squeezed space. They were so willing to rush my order so it could be ready for professional pictures. Wow, worth the Investment. We purchased the Queen Over Queen Bunk Bed, and I can honestly say it's the only thing that would be left standing in a catastrophic event. My two young sons share the Top when we are visiting the mountains and it doesn't even jiggle when they climb in. Boys are destructive, but the bed is indestructible. I would suggest the corner support brackets and even though there is a video showing 2 people putting together once you have to set the vertical elements it really needs 4 people, We did mange with 3, but it was touch and go a couple times for a dent in the floor. LOVE LOVE LOVE this bed! and great customer service on setting delivery and assembly.
