We absolutely love our bunk bed! We went with the 10' ceiling version (our ceilings are probably around 12' total) and it's a great compromise: there's enough area above to sit in the bed comfortable, and I (~6' tall) almost don't bash my head from underneath. Using a loft bed increased our floor space by approximately 30 sqft, which is quite a bargain considering NYC prices. The construction is well documented, using premium materials (really liked the screws that came with the bed) and well designed: no squeaking, rocking and feels extremely stable.
