Does the Queen Over Queen Bunk Bed require a special type of mattress?
No. The wooden slats support most innerspring queen size mattresses. For a memory foam mattress, you will need a solid surface to keep it from sinking. If you plan to use a memory foam mattress, you can add a 1/8” thick masonite board or extra slats to your order. These options are available in the Accessories tab above.Will I need a box spring?
Box springs are not necessary on the Queen Over Queen Bunk Bed. In fact, we recommend not using on to avoid wasting valuable headspace.How is the ladder attached to the bed frame?
The standard ladder is detachable and can be placed anywhere around the bunk bed. It securely clips to the aluminum frame and will not move when it’s in use.How far does the ladder extend?
If your bunk bed is built for a 9’ ceiling, the ladder extends 20” from the end of the bed. We also make a version that only extends 13” from the bed at no cost. For $35, we can build a ladder that only extends 6” from the bed frame. You can request these custom ladder options in the Notes section during checkout.What are the dimensions of the staircase?

Wow, worth the Investment. We purchased the Queen Over Queen Bunk Bed, and I can honestly say it's the only thing that would be left standing in a catastrophic event. My two young sons share the Top when we are visiting the mountains and it doesn't even jiggle when they climb in. Boys are destructive, but the bed is indestructible. I would suggest the corner support brackets and even though there is a video showing 2 people putting together once you have to set the vertical elements it really needs 4 people, We did mange with 3, but it was touch and go a couple times for a dent in the floor. LOVE LOVE LOVE this bed! and great customer service on setting delivery and assembly.

Unfortunately, one of the predrilled holes doesn’t quite line up and therefore I wasn’t able to get the bolt screwed all the way in. We customer ordered this bunk with a matching trundle. Added the book shelves for both top and bottom. Added the removable ladder and the side rail for safety on top. This bed is definitely sturdy. However, the trundle slats were not cut correctly. We had different sizes and had to have a carpenter come cut them for us. We’ve had to move this twice. It’s not easy at all. It takes 4 people to put up and take down. Unfortunately it also scratches very easily. I had to purchase a filler for the paint to cover our scratches. I also had to buy more screws from FL&B when we moved it. The screws were not reusable. We’ve had adults on top and bottom and all felt very comfortable!! Sturdy isn’t an issue. However, I’d suggest 2 side rails so you can move bed wherever unless it won’t ever move from its space. We love the bookshelves, but they are bending away from bed. The wall supported them when the bed was against it. However, I feel like they need to have a bracket of some sort to keep them in place. I’d definitely purchase a bunk again but I’d be a little specific on extra support.
