Your bed is the most important piece of furniture in your bedroom. You spend a third of your day in bed, so you want to make sure you have the right bed size to ensure you’re as comfortable as possible while you rest. If you’re wondering which size adult bunk bed to choose, you’ve come to the right place! Our adult bunk beds go from Full to King, and what size you choose depends on a few different variables. Here are a few easy tips and steps to help you decide which size is right for you.

First, Measure Your Room

The first thing to do when choosing your bed size is to measure the room and the ceilings. You’ll want to know how tall your ceilings are so you can choose the right height for your bunk beds. In addition, while you’ll already be saving a considerable amount of room space by choosing one of our bunk beds, you’ll still want to measure the room and make sure the bed will fit comfortably and give you enough walking space as well as additional furniture space.

Next, Consider Functionality

While you’re already making functionality a top priority by choosing one of our adult bunk beds, you’ll want to consider what this room will be used for. Is this room just for you? Will the bed be sleeping 1 or 2? Will you want to use this room as an office? Will you be using it as a guest room? Will you need additional storage space underneath the bed? Considering these questions will not only help you choose the size bed you’ll need, but will also help you consider the accessories you might want to purchase with the bunk bed.

Then, Choose a Size

If you considered the above questions, the only thing left to do is choose a size. Whether you’re planning on using this bed for yourself, you and your significant other, or utilizing it for a guest room, here are the different size options and measurements.

Adult Bunk Bed Sizes

Full Size

A Full or Double bunk bed is great for one adult or for a guest room. If you’re planning on a Full size bed for you and your partner, most experts recommend this only if you and your partner are less than 5’5″ tall and sleep in a smaller bedroom. In terms of space, Full size beds are 15 inches wider than Twin beds, so you can factor in that added space as a plus. The dimensions for a Full bed are 83 inches long by 55 inches wide. The height of our bunk bed varies depending on your ceiling size. We offer various different heights ranging from 41.5 inches from the top for an 8-foot ceiling, 48.5 inches for a 9-foot and 53 inches for a 10-foot ceiling. If your ceilings are lower than 8 feet, contact us and we can see what we can do to assist. Additionally, we also offer our full-sized bunk beds in extra-long versions.

Queen Size

Did you know a Queen is now the most popular size mattress for people who share a bed with a partner? A Queen-sized bed is 21 inches wider and 5 inches longer than a Twin bed and is preferred by a majority of couples. It’s also a popular choice for adult males as it gives them a bit more space than a Full size bed would. The measurements for a Queen are 88 inches long by 61 inches wide. A Queen-sized bunk bed will give you 6 more inches of additional width than a Full bed will.

King Size

During the 60s and 70s, full size beds were the most popular choice for couples and single folks alike, but in recent years King size beds have been gaining momentum and are becoming a top pick for couples and those who prefer extra space. They give you 16 additional inches of width than a Queen size bed and double the space of a Twin bed. In fact, if you were to push two Twin mattresses together, you’ll have the width of a King bed. In addition, many sleep doctors recommend a King size bed for the best-undisturbed sleep, as it gives you more space to move freely without hitting the side or disturbing your partner. While this option does give you the most space, it’s often not viable for those with smaller homes or apartments. It can also cause quite the headache during delivery if you have a small space and have to maneuver around tight corners and up small staircases. You’ll really want to measure and make sure a King-sized bunk bed will fit comfortably in your home before going with this option. The dimensions for a King size bed are 88 inches long by 77 inches wide.
